Rules & Regulations

GENERAL RULES

There are some general rules regarding the rental of our ORVs:

  • You must have your valid driver’s license to rent or drive. when you come in for your rental. This applies to the renter who made the reservation and to those who would like to drive the vehicle.
  • Dune Rover, Rmax 1000, and Yamaha Kodiak 450— 18 or older to rent /16 or older to drive with valid driver’s license (learner permits not considered license). Anyone under 18 years of age will have to be signed for by a parent or legal guardian to participate in the rental.  NO EXCEPTIONS
  • Teryx & KRX – 21 years or older to rent and drive. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • Minimum rental contract period is 2 hours.
  • All ORV passenger accommodations are subject to the designated weight load for the vehicle.  Approx. 500# for the 2 seat vehicles and 1100# for the 4 seat vehicles.
  • You are responsible to supply and install your own front-facing Child Safety Seat.  They may only be used in the rear seat of the Kawasaki Teryx & KRX vehicles and not in any of the 2 seat ORV’s Michigan Child Safety laws apply in these vehicles. 
  • The vehicle assigned to you for rental is the vehicle that you must return. No exceptions!
  • Eye wear is required – State Park/Dept. of Natural Resources rules! Eyeglasses, sunglasses and goggles qualify. Remember to bring them, or these can be purchased at our store.
  • Minimum rental contract period is 2 hours.
  • A deposit of $750.00 per vehicle (Rover, Rover Max, & Teryx) or $1500 (KRX) is required per vehicle before you depart for your rental. This will be returned to upon the return of vehicle(s), inspection and the vehicle(s) is deemed undamaged.
  • Riding in an ORV is NOT recommended for pregnant women.
  • We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover Card, American Express and Cash. Sorry, No CHECKS!
  • Reservations are recommended especially during peak season Mid June-Early August. Please pre-plan for busy holiday weeks and weekends.

LEGAL STUFF

RESERVATIONS

  • If you have made a reservation, you must arrive 30 minutes prior to reservation to:
    • Sign Waivers
    • Take copies of drivers License
    • Watch a safety video
    • Answer any questions you may have
  • If you are going to be late!
    • PLEASE contact and speak with our staff for details. Missing a reservation time could be considered No Call / No Show – No Refund. If you have made the effort to contact us we will do our very best to make things work for the both of us!
  • If a reservation is cancelled, a gift-card that is redeemable at Silver Lake Buggy Rentals will be issued (this card does not expire). Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours prior to your reservation, failure to do so could result in no compensation.
  • Also please make sure that your watch is set to MICHIGAN TIME (EST).
    • Many of our guests come from different time zones and this can create missed reservations, especially during the peak vacation times when everything is booked throughout the entire day.
  • LARGE GROUPS – We encourage you to avoid holidays and Saturdays in July and August to enable you to have a more pleasurable experience.
  • **CANCELLATION AND WEATHER POLICY**
    Once a reservation is made, if you cancel it for any reason your refund will be in the form of a Silver Lake Buggy Rentals **gift certificate** or you may reschedule.

    If you do not call and miss your reservation, you will be considered a no-call/no-show and receive no compensation.

    Any **changes must be made 24 hours prior to your reservation** to receive a gift card or reschedule.

    We do still operate in the rain, we will do our best to reschedule you if possible. If the weather is deemed unsafe by us or the DNR we will issue a full refund for your rental.
