Off-Road Vehicle Rentals!

QUICK NOTES:

• Located near The Silver Lake Sand Dunes in Mears, MI!     (100 miles South of The Sleeping Bear Dunes)
• Reservations are always recommended to get the rental time and vehicle of your choosing. Walk-ins are always welcome but we have to offer you what we have available at the time.
• Eye Protection is required at all times in the ORV Park. This includes sunglasses, glasses, goggles, safety glasses, swim goggles, etc. You may bring your own or purchase them in store. 
• The rental fee includes all permits, flags, helmet rental, fuel, as well as, transportation of customers/vehicles to and from the dunes.
• You must arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled rental time. Failure to do so could result in change of rental duration. 
• The Credit Card that was used to purchase the original booking must be presented upon rental check-in. In addition to a valid form of Identification that matches the name and billing address of the card provided.
• A $750.00 deposit per vehicle (Teryx, RMAX, & Dune Rover) is required. $1000 is required when renting the Kawasaki KRX.
• NO REFUNDS FOR EARLY RETURNS
• Regarding Child Safety Seats:  The seat must be provided and installed by the clients renting our vehicles. Children requiring safety seats will only be permitted to ride in the Kawasaki Teryx and KRX  vehicles. No seats will be installed in the RMAX or DUNE ROVER. Only FRONT facing seats are allowed and the child must be at least 2 years of age. See Michigan law for details.
• Everyone must have a seat in a vehicle for the entire rental! There is no safe space for someone to wait to switch into the vehicle. Drivers and passengers may switch if a vlid drivers license is presented at rental check-in. (Example: 8 People total need 8 vehicle seats. (2 x 4 seat KRX = 8 seats) or (4 x 2 seat RMAX = 8 Seats) or (1 x 4 seat KRX and 2 x 2 seat RMAX = 8 seats) 

• CANCELLATION AND WEATHER POLICY
  • Once a reservation is made, all sales are final. If you need to cancel, compensation will be in the form of a Silver Lake Buggy Rentals gift certificate or you may reschedule. If you do not call and miss your reservation, you will be considered a no-call/no-show and receive no compensation.
  •  If Trip Protection is purchased at the time of booking. You may cancel 24 hours before your reservation and receive a full refund to your method of payment (minus the trip protection fee).** (10% of total booking).
  • Weather Policy:
    – We do still operate in the rain, we will do our best to reschedule you if possible. If we are still in operation you may reschedule or receive a gift card. Cancellations are not accepted due to weather. If the weather is deemed unsafe by us or the DNR (lightning on the dunes) we will cancel and issue a full refund for your rental.

Most popular and most recommended is a 2 hour rental!

2 hours is the most popular choice for those who have never been on the dunes before and woulds like to get put there and experience it for themselves!

• • This is the option we most commonly recommend.
  • 2 hours is plenty of time to see the whole ORV Park and make quite a few trips around.
  • We also recommend this option with smaller children as this can be a long and tiring activity for them.

3 hours or more is recommended if

• • You would like to hang out on the beach with access to Lake Michigan
  • You have a lot of people wanting to drive and you plan on rotating drivers.
    • This will ensure everyone gets their fill before the fun is over.

With more time on the dunes you have the option to hang out by Lake Michigan at the beach, have more riding and driving time, and get to see some pretty cool vehicles on the dunes!

New in 2023 was our guided sunset tour and we had so much fun it is coming back for 2024!

Duration: 

• 1 hour of dune time (your whole excursion will be around 2 hours including safety information and traveling to and from the dunes.) 

What to expect:

• We will watch a brief Safety Video (8 minutes) at S.L.B.R Headquarters and grab any safety equipment needed (helmet and glasses/goggles.)
• Load on Shuttle busses and head over to the Silver Lake Sand Dunes ORV Park (5 minute bus ride). Meet your Dune Guides and load into our vehicles after receiving some safety information.
• Drivers will learn how to operate their vehicle and then we will depart into the ORV Park.
• We make a couple stops during our first lap to point out different landmarks, locations, and provide any tips. After that we will make a few laps and then make our way to Lake Michigan for the sunset!
• After about 10-15 minutes at the ORV Park beach we will make our way out of the park and head back to headquarters where we started!

F.A.Q.S:

• Can we have multiple drivers or switch drivers?
  • Yes, you may have multiple drivers and switch as long as they are over 21 years of age and have provided a driver’s license at tour check-in. Please note that there is about 45-60 minutes of driving time on the dunes, it is your responsibility to make sure everyone in your group got the opportunity to drive if desired. We make multiple stops throughout the tour and that would be a good opportunity to switch drivers.
• What time is the tour?
  • Tour times change throughout the season according to the changing sunset times.
• What time do I need to be there?
  • When making your reservation there was a time labeled “arrival time” that is the time we ask that you be at headquarters ready to go. The earlier we are all ready the more dune time we have!
• What should I wear?
  • Wear comfortable clothing that you do not mind getting sandy. Please keep in mind that it gets chilly and cool when the sun goes down by the lake. BRING A JACKET OR SWEATSHIRT. It is better to have the item than not. Trust us.
  • Eye Protection is required by the State of Michigan in this State Park. We will provide clear safety glasses if you are in need of eye protection. Goggles, tinted safety glasses, sunglasses, kids sunglasses, and kids goggles are for purchase in our store.
  • Some people prefer to wear bandanas to cover their faces or hair, to try and prevent sand. We have bandanas for sale in store.
